Day is a danish designer company that was founded by Keld Mikkelsen in 1997. They now have over a thousand stores spread over 25 countries and are indeed celebrating their tremendous success.

What I specially love about Day except for their obviously gorgeous design is their philosophy. Their desire was to move away from a buisness focused on sales and towards a design driven product with a craftmanship revival- wheter embroidery or hand beading. The idea, reflected in their name was to create contemporary every-day glamour. These pics are from their spring-line. Feel free to dream away…

Wild flowers

Wild flowers are just so pretty! They remind me of the fields back home where I used to play as a child. I loved to pick flowers for my mother, and I often did on my way back home from school. My mom has a collection of nice pots and vases and I always awaited with impatience for the moment when she would choose a vase from the kitchenshelf and put the flowers on our dinnertable. Even though it sometimes was just a simple glass or a mug I would glanze at the flowers and think that they made the whole dinner-experience so much richer.

My favorites are still wild-flowers on our dinnertable. It reminds me of my mothers thankfulness over the simple things in life. Even though I sometimes only brought her a couple tiny buttercups, her enthusiasm made me feel like I was bringing her a bouquet of roses. I went away feeling so blessed for wanting to bless her.

A tribute to my favorite boutique: Bolina!!

Where it´s all about:

Bolina is an absolutely amazing boutique located in Oslo, Norway.

It is run by two sisters, Hanne and Cathrine and falls under the catagory “lifestyle”shop. Here they have interior, old and new furniture, jewlery, shoes and clothes.

They get a lot of their inspiration from their frequent trips to Paris, Milan, London and Kopenhagen, and are not slow to share with happy custumers their latest treasures:

I am so weak for this different shades of purple, brown, grey and white colours together. I also love the combination of wood and metal and the nice contrast they make, like here:

Bananaboxes are beautiful!!

One of my favorite things to do to unwind is first to go to “Åpent bakeri”, the most amazing french bakery in Oslo, order a Mocha and a cinnamon bun, take the bus to Bolina, plug in my ipod and just dream off inside this beautiful store. It´s very close to heaven I can assure you! Accompanied by my faithful friend Francis Cabrel life is gooood!

Beautiful lamps

We had the most amazing trip to Chico with some friends the other day, and there they had the most cosy coffeehouse with these amazing lamps. The first one is an old vintage-lamp, and I love the damp light that it creates. With the brick-wall in the background it makes the most beautiful scene to sit and read good book under.

The two other lamps was made by a local artist and was light-bulbs with this gorgeous stiff fabric that you could shape however you liked it. I thought they were so nice, I just had to share some pics.

-and by the way: if you ever go to Chico, you need to make a stop here- in addition to the lamps they have the most amazing latté ever!! Yummi!!

The amazingly beautiful tree in the garden. It only took one week with sun and the tree was blossoming in all its beauty. I take a detour every day just to walk by it. I love it so much I just had to bring a branch or two into the appartement :

I got so inspired by the beautiful flowers, and just started to have fun and experiment with them. Here I´ve decorated my pine cones outside with them. I especially like how the pink makes a cute contrast to the metal-chair and the rough pine-cone. Contrasts in nature are powerful!

To me, the most beautiful country in the world is France. I lived in Paris for 2 years, and it was impossible not to fall in love with the culture, the language, the people, the food – and the interior. I love the colors of nature, and the shabby romantic look that caracterize many of the old buildings. I love when interior reflects history and life. These pics are from a hotel close to Carcasonne, called La Maison Pujol. It´s origianally an old wine-factory and consists of only five rooms. Need I say more? I´m taking my hubby, and we´re going!!!

A love for clay

I love clay. It´s one of my favourite materials that I use in my decor. The nicest pots are the ones that are naturally worn and has been standing outside and therefore graciously earned their shabby look. I love the earth – colours that they have and how they bring a nostalgic atmosphere to a room. I dream of having a garden filled with a dozen of theese.

I always love to come to places where the entrence reflects the people living inside. I´ve gathered some things that I really find beautiful and that creates a nice atmosphere outside the appartement. I love coming home to this sight every day and I enjoy lighting the candle outside at night and sit out on the porch with a cup of tea looking at the stars. There is so much beauty in life. We just need to remember to expose ourselves to it.
